The low-end Mac
An old Apple dream
You know how I think about analysts. But this
time, I agree with Gene Munster from Piper Jaffray. He said, that "Apple
Computer could decide to sell a lower-priced of its Macintosh computer to
attract consumers already enamored of its iPod music player and annoyed by
security problems with Windows PCs".
But Munster is focusing on the
consumer market only. Another big opportunity for Apple are the corporate and
the Pro markets. Especially in times, when you don't need a Super Computer (for
the price of an Super Computer) on the desk of an editor or an assistance, it
makes a lot of sense, to have a low-cost alternative to the
G5s.
Apple would also follow its roots.
In the early years of the company, Steve Wozniak wanted to create a low-cost
computer everybody could afford. The Mac was also, in its initial plan, a
low-cost computer. Let's see on January 10th if one of the oldest Apple plans
comes true. I would think so.
