The free Operating System works on almost any Power Macs

NetBSD/macppc works on Power Macs since version 1.4. The latest port is version 2.0 which is available as of yesterday. According to German c't magazine , NetBSD 2.0 offers better file system performance, improved memory management, and the support of POSIX threads. The macppc port should also benefit from integrated SMP capabilities.
