The Cinema Show
'Genesis'
Home from work our
Juliet
Clears her morning
meal.
She dabs her
skin with pretty smells
Concealing to
appeal
I will make
my bed,
She said, but turned to go.
Can she be late
for her cinema show?
Romeo locks his
basement flat,
And scurries
up the stair.
With head held
high and floral tie.
A weekend millionaire.
I will make
my bed
With her tonight,
he cries.
Can he fail,
armed with his chocolate surprise?
Take a little trip
back with father Tiresias
Listen to the
old one speak of all he has
lived through.
I have crossed
between the poles, for me there's
no mystery.
Once a man,
like the sea I raged,
Once a woman,
like the earth I gave .
There is in
fact more earth than sea.
This poem (or song) was written by Peter Gabriel and Genesis. You get a view of what Romeo and Juliet are thinking; and even though it has two peoples view, they are not that different. Juliet is getting ready for a big night out by dressing herself up to please her Romeo. While Romeo gets ready by preparing his bed for her, and tries to impress his Juliet by giving her flowers and using money. Then after watching the two lovebirds we take a trip down memory lane with good old father Tiresias. He tells us that he has been there before, and he knows everything these two are thinking. ....'Once a man, like the sea I raged. Once a woman, like the earth I gave. There is in fact more land than sea.' He tells us that men have to be aggressive and compete with each other, because in this world there are more women than men.
'The Cinema Show' has rhyme and rhythm, but it does not follow any specific type of foot or meter, such as iambic tetrameter.
(below are is the rhyme scheme )
