Folk and Fairy Tales from Around the World

Overview:

This is a language arts lesson. Students are asked to read several folk and fairy tales from around the world. They are then asked to answer various questions in written form.

Time Frame: 5 hours

Grade level: 7-12

Objectives:

 

Materials:

A dictionary should be available to the students.

Extensions:

Have a class discussion about the animated films based on fairy and folk tales, such as "Beauty and the Beast", "Aladdin", and so forth. If possible, have the students view one of the films and then discuss how it is similar to and different from the folk and fairy tales presented in this lesson.
