Career Workshop


For this unit, you will

  1. register and sign-up for My College QuickStart from the College Board (registration code from your results needed).
  2. take the ORA Personality Profiler, QuickStart Majors and QuickStart Careers surveys and print results for your teacher.
  3. under Find a College, look up three colleges and print a side-by-side compariason.
  4. Under Find a College, select three schools to explore for specific information and print a side-by-side compariason. If you choose to contact a school for more information by "snail mail," follow correct letter Letter Format.
  5. write and research a Career Essay about a possible career
  6. complete and print a Resume for your teacher.
  7. explore My SAT Study Plan and make a plan for score improvement. No paperwork needs to be turned in for this, but think seriously about what you can do to improve your score and take advantage of the resources offered you.

Career Essay

Cover Sheet

Text (typed double-spaced). Content must include
1) Why you chose this career
2) Why this is an appropriate career for you
3) A description of daily working conditions (pros and cons)
4) Education and training for the career
5) Advancement opportunities and salary

Bibliography. Compile a bibliography of at least three documented sources used in your paper. Include one internet source and one interview with someone working in the chosen career.
