Course Description: Mr. Laurie's 8th Grade Science (top)

Mr. Laurie's 8th Grade Science class is where students learn Astronomy, the Physics of Motion and Forces, and the basics of the Chemical Elements. Mr. Laurie emphasizes a wholistic approach to science learning, and augments science lessons with technology skills, reading strategies, and behavioral learning.

Mr. Laurie's students benefit from involvement in several curriculum projects, including connections to MESA, RoboChallenge, Beyond the Classroom, and Scienceline. Students experience the use of technology in the class daily, and learn to apply technology and research skills to compose web pages on science topics.

Past highlights have included the annual use of the "Starlab" planetarium, Harry Kroto Day, and Science and Technology Day at UCSB.
