Santa Maria Strawberry Festival, April 26-27

The RoboChallenge Competition 2008 will take place a the Santa Maria Strawberry Festival. This is a great opportunity for schools and students to showcase their work for the community, to see the robots built by other schools, and to enjoy some healthy competition. Participants will receive free admission if they provide advance notice to RoboChallenge Directors Luke Laurie or Tino Aleman. Participating Schools should contact Luke Laurie or Tino Aleman. with the names of all competitors, and a list of which competitions they will enter.

Participants will enter through GATE 7, because the festival does not begin until 11:00 AM. There will be a list at the gate of all competitors. 1 parent may enter without charge for each participating student.

Where: The Santa Maria Fairgrounds, at the Comcast Center Stage and in the Strawberry Pavillion.

Saturday, April 26, 2008:

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Comcast Center Stage: Sumo (Autonomous and Remote), VEX Sumo, Tug O' War

1:00 PM - 4:00 PM in the Strawberry Pavillion: Linefollowing, Goal Kick, Open Competition, and Navigation Challenge

Sunday, April 27, 2008:

11:00 AM- 12:00 PM Comcast Center Stage: Drag Race (originally scheduled as Competition Finals- we may showcase some of the better robots if competitors wish to return for a second day. Competitors, however, will not be required to return for a second day)

Schedule is subject to change. Every attempt will be made to ensure participation and inclusion of all students

For more information on the Strawberry Festival, see the website. There will be lots of fun food, rides, and entertainment. Teachers should keep track of Robots. It may be advisable to lock robots in cars (hidden from view) after the competition. Tino Aleman and Luke Laurie will have a RoboChallenge area in the Strawberry Pavillion where we will hold some competitions and feature student work.
