Since 2000, RoboChallenge has served hundreds of students on the California Central Coast. Competitions have included Tug O' War, Drag Race, Sumo, Catapult, Line Following, and others.

History

A timeline of RoboChallenge events and milestones.

2000-2001

Roboquest Faculty Outreach Grant submitted by UCSB Engineering Faculty and UCSB MESA Faculty provides funding to purchase LEGO Mindstorms robotics materials for several schools to begin piloting materials.

2001-2002

UCSB Engineering Professor Brad Paden, Science Teacher Luke Laurie, and UCSB MESA work to expand the program and recruit teachers through MESA and MRL's Beyond the Classroom. Name is changed to RoboChallenge.

2002-2003

Program continues serving approximately 200 students. Additional Funding Received from UCSB.

2003-2004

Program continues serving approximately 200 students with limited funding.

2004-2005

Program continues serving approximately 200 students.

2005-2006

2006-2007

LEGO NXT is integrated into RoboChallenge competitions.

2007-2008

El Camino's Robotics Science Class expands to 3 sections. LEGO NXT is integrated into the course.
