Proverbios y Dichos Mexicanos

The dichos paintings were conceived and executed in Ensenada Mexico, B.C. in a period of 5 days during the spring of 2003 with the help of pollo mole tacos from various stands around town, bottles of water from Gigante, Las Trancas, Herradura, and Corralejo tequila, Te Amo and CAO Carillo cigars, Copenhagen, the boom-boom sounds from Sunday night cruising on Avenida Lopez Mateos, Las Tijuanaese @ El Palamar, shoulder high sets @ Stacks, checking e-mail @ Café Equinox, endless hours of walking, soul music from the 70's, Chavela Vragas, The Eagles, Firefall, buzzing flies in my room, the smell from the fishing boats, feeding seals, Mexican driving, reading, itchy sheets, never knowing the name to the hotel I stayed at, the thought of never going back to the US, quitting my job, wonder what the maid thought when she went in my room each morning and seeing prints strung across the room and paintings on the floor and bed, lonely nights, death, love, regret, pain, happiness, sorrow, confusion, indecision, mystery, hunger, drive, desire, the will to never stop no matter how tired I became, and a whole lot of other things…Several months later these paintings were titled after

Mexican proverbs.
