In a world dominated by robotically-welded production framesets, there is an alternative

O'Brien custom bicycles and framesets are made one at a time, by hand. They are designed and sized specifically for you, not simply popped off an assembly line in small, medium or large. All cutting, brazing/welding, and finish work is performed by a skilled human craftsman.

Built to perform under the stress of all-out racing conditions

Stability, predictability and power transfer come first at O'Brien.  In a fifty mile-per-hour mountain sweeper with no guardrail, do you really want to settle for less?

Available in a full range of materials and configurations

Among the choice of materials is a full assortment of Columbus, Tange, and Easton tubing, with Henry James or Cinelli investment cast lugs and bottom brackets. Also available are Columbus MAX EL kits with carbon fiber CARVE or MUSCLE seat stays and forks. Designs are available for road, touring, or cyclo-cross applications.

Main triangles are low-temperature silver soldered to allow the tubing to retain its original flex characteristics and avoid making the tubes brittle and failure-prone. Stainless steel dropouts are standard, as are lightweight mtb-style cable stops.

A unique fastback seat fitting, substantially stronger than stays attached to the side of the lug, is an O'Brien exclusive.

We pride ourselves on building a bike that is stable and controllable at any speed. To get this sweet ride, most of our frames are built with a lower bottom bracket than you may be used to. The result? More stability under hard cornering or sprinting and instant response to power input. Optimally matched head angle and fork rake keeps you rock solid on the descents and holding the line you want through the turns.

Unlike many top name-brand production bikes, each O'Brien frameset is fit, built and aligned by one person - Michael O'Brien. Be sure your ride benefits from his skill and experience - e-mail him today to set up a consultation session!
