Is a military takeover of Bolivia imminent?

Rumors swirled earlier this year of an imminent coup following the deadly clash between the national police and the army on Plaza Murillo in central La Paz, though none materialized. However, with the pending closure of the natural gas deal, such predictions are making themselves heard again, though this time envisioning the Bolivian armed forces -- comprised primarily of ranks sympathetic to the opposition to exporting Bolivia's natural gas reserves through Chile -- taking the reins of government. Time will tell...
