Self-portrait, Hong Kong, 23 June 2003
After eleven days with no new cases of SARS the
chance of contracting the disease in Hong Kong is so abysmally
low that even the symbolic value of wearing a face mask is no
longer meaningful. Let us hope that the eleven people still under
critical care in Hong Kong hospitals are able to survive, and
that the local health authorities keep their guard up, so that
I may let mine down and once again show my smiling face without
fear that someone's cough or sneeze could threaten my life.
We have overcome. Well, at least in Hong Kong,
anyway!
Just in case...
