At least 157 people have died in New York state (there were 63 deaths in New York State as of July 24, 2009):
- New York City: 74 deaths (54 of the NYC deaths occurred before August 30, 2009) a 55 year old man (a teacher), a woman in her fifties; a 41 year old woman; a 34 year old man; a 11 week old baby; two people in their forties, two people over 65; a person over 50 years old; a person in their thirties; a person in their fifties; a child under 5; an 11 year old girl from Brooklyn; and a person between 30-39; a person between 40-49 and 31 people aged 25-64. [New York City is no longer reporting their deaths].

- Albany County (1): a teenager.
- Broome County (1): an adult.
- Cattaraugus County (1): a woman.
- Chemung County (1): a 8 year old boy from Elmira.
- Clinton County (1): an adult in Plattsburgh.
- Erie County (3): a 15 year old boy from Buffalo; a 9 year old girl in Buffalo; a 15 year old girl.
- Fulton (1): an adult.
- Genessee County (1): a 10 year old boy from Corfu.
- Monroe County (4): a man in Rochester; three adults.
- Nassau County (5): a woman in her twenties who had recently given birth; a child; a person over the age of 55; a person over the age of 65; a child.
- Niagra County (2): a High School student.
- Oneida County (8): a teenager; an adult.
- Onondaga County (5): a young pregant woman; an adult; others.
- Ontario County (2): two adults.
- Orange County (2): a 32 year old woman from Newburgh; a 37 year old woman from Newburgh.
- Orleans County (1): a 16 year old boy from Holley.

- Suffolk County (8): a man between the ages of 35 and 45 from Brookhaven; a woman between the ages of 55 and 65 from Brookhaven ; a woman between the ages of 40 and 50 from Brookhaven; a man between the ages of 65 and 75 from Babylon; a woman between the ages of 55 and 65 from Babylon; a man between the ages of 45 and 55 from the Town of Smithtown; a man between the ages of 25 and 35 from the Town of East Hampton; a man between the ages of 20 and 30.

- Ulster County (1): a man from Saugerties.
