"The Great Bear Rainforest: A Virtual Journey" allows people from all corners of the world to explore a geography so remote that only a fortunate few ever a taste its beauty and magic. This is some of the most breathtaking wilderness in the world... and also one of the most threatened.

This is the Great Bear Rainforest.

Spread across a maze of islands and inlets, if untangled in a straight line, it would stretch 16,000 kilometres, from the tip of Vancouver Island for 400 kilometres north along the Inside Passage until the Alaska border.

The ecosystem is Canada's coastal temperate rainforest.

QuickTime VR lets the viewer navigate maps, landscapes, and the forest floor in rich, immersive 360-degree panoramas. Each view is a gateway. Through their exploration, visitors discover treasures such as wolves, eagles, salmon, grizzly and Kermode bears, as together we begin to unravel the mystery of this rare and magnificent ecosystem.
