a) The pre-exponential constant gives the weight of a 1 m TL or 1 m PCL white shark because meter was used as length unit or reported equation was converted to m;
b) Back-transformed geometric mean (GM) power regression.

Vital rates needed for demograhic analysis are age-specific mortality rate M (can be estimated from longevity), age-at-first reproduction (alpha = age-at-maturity + gestation period), longevity estimate w (can be estimated from Von Bertalanffy growth curve), and fertility m (number of female pups born per year). The following values were used by Mollet and Cailliet (2002) in a preliminary demographics analysis:
M ~-ln(0.01)/60 = 0.07675 yr-1;
Alpha ~15 yr;
w ~ 60 years; some calculations with w = 36 yr;
m ~ 8.9/(2x3) = 1.433
Results: Lambda = 1.082, Ro = 6.163, Abar = 20.9 yr (Abar/alpah = 1.39), T = 23.1 yr, mu1 = 26.2 yr
Elasticity results: E(m) = 0.048; E(JS) = 0.670, E(JS)/E(m) = 14.0 (i.e. GP = 1.0 yr) ; E(AS) = 0.330, E(AS)/E(m) = 6.9 (Sum = 1.048)
Normalized elasticites for comparison with estimates above: 4.6%, 63.9%, 31.5%
