Yea, I know what you're thinking.... "this website suck!"... well if you want a better site, you make it. (give me time, I'm a busy guy)
Welcome to MurphSoft!
viewTunes 1.1 has been released!
viewTunes 1.1
Updated: 10/08/02
viewTunes is a simple application I have been working on that gathers the song information from from iTunes and displays the information in your AOL Instant Messenger profile.
viewTunes 1.1 is freeware and may distributed freely as long as this file is included.
What's Changed Since 1.1:
* Bug fixes (This is a very minor update)
* Now will get your profile when you open the app and put it in your extra profile info.
* When you quit viewTunes will set your profile to your extra profile info.
* When no music is playing, viewTunes will only display your extra profile info.
Main Features:
* Display your choice of song title, artist, album, year, genre, and rating
* Display the previously played song
* Add your own profile information to be displayed in addition to song information
* Set how often you would like your profile to update
* Keep track of how many songs you've listened too
* Display a preview of your profile right in the application.
Requirements:
I have only tested viewTunes with Mac OS X 10.2.1 with iTunes 3.0.1 and AIM 4.5.794. viewTunes may work with other configurations but your mileage my vary and no guarantee is made. viewTunes will only work with the official AIM client; no third party clients are supported. Please send any success or failure stories to mmurph@mac.com
How To Use:
Simply launch the application and set what information you would like to display. Obviously you must have iTunes open and playing music and you must be signed on to AIM. Thats it! viewTunes will take care of the rest. You can even close the window to get it out of your way and viewTunes will continue to work.
Contact Me:
PLEASE! Send all questions, comments, bugs, feature requests, etc to mmurph@mac.com. I plan on making viewTunes better!
Important Usage Notes:
*** The Mac version of AIM has issues updating profiles. While this will not affect how viewTunes works, mac users running the official AIM client may not always be able to access your current profile. This is an issue with AIM. PC version and Mac third party clients don't have this issue.
* If you close the main window, simply choose "Open" from the file menu to bring it back to the front.
* AIM uses standard HTML commands, see below for some standard commands to use while setting your profile.
* When viewTunes quits it resets your profile to be blank.
* The update time must be between 10 seconds and 600 seconds (10 Minutes)
* AIM sets a profile character limit of 1024 characters. Usually if you only have song information this will not be a problem. However, if you add additional content to your profile, it may get cut off. To avoid this opt to display less information.
HTML Commands:
(Use these commands in your extra profile area)
Line return:
Example:
Type: This is on a <br> new line
Will Display: This is on a
new line
Explanation: Type <br> where ever you want to goto the next line
Links:
Example: <a href="http://www.apple.com">CLICK HERE</a>
Explanation: Replace http://www.apple.com with where ever you want the user to go. Replace CLICK HERE with any text you wish the person viewing the profile to see. Don't forget the </a> at the end of the line, and the quotes around the URL.
Color:
