Ø Developed a non partisan approach to run for public office by stressing unity and focusing on ideas & solutions versus finger pointing and blame game. Ø Championed the creation of a new economy promoting the alignment of new businesses with good stewardship of the environment within the matrix of a market economy. Ø Called for Fiscal financial discipline and a balanced budget, spoke out on the need for a positive change in the conduct of U.S. foreign policy and the scrapping of the current unilateralist policy. Ø Demanded sweeping changes in our defense policy to reflect the new threat in our midst. Called for new thinking in the defense department that focused on the improvement of the quality of life of our men and women in uniform and defense based weapons to protect them versus building weapon systems that were unsuitable in the current war on terrorism and future conflicts. Called for waste management and an audit to check the excesses of the Pentagon and the Military industrialized complex. After a hard fought race for the endorsement, Peter narrowly lost to Teresa Daly on the third ballot.
