This was my first vehicle purchase on my own. Bought it brand new with only 107 miles on it. I skimped on a lot of stuff as I was in college at the time. I got into audio competitions a long time ago with a Datsun pickup and continued that with over 20 completely different stereo systems. Some not lasting more than a week. I had a cloth tonneu on, then bought a fiberglass tonneu and then decided that I wanted a full size topper. this over a period of about 5-6 years. I had it repainted in 1997 right before I want to the USAC Finals event. Even got a small picture in Autosound and Security magazine for their coverage. After winning the 99, buying the 94 I figured it was past its usefullness and put it on a consignment lot.

There it sat for about 3 months a lot of people said if it was a V6, gone. But no takers. We had one heck of a hail storm roll through, insurance companies paid out millions. I had completely forgotton that I had full coverage on the truck yet and i t wasn't until 2 weeks after the storm that it dawned on me. So I put in a claim and got over 2500 in repair money. I turned around and sold it a week later to a friend going to college for 1000. So I wound up getting exactly what I wanted out of it the hard way.

I won this through local radio station giveaway. I went to some of their live remotes and put my name in a box. If it was drawn on the air, you had 10 minutes to call back and you were registered to get a key and try to start it. A co-worker from my last job, called a friend who he still worked with and he called me so I had like 3 minutes to get through. I got a letter in the mail and was told to be at the local ford dealer at 4pm on a certaiin day. They brought all 70 some qualifiers down and started drawing names out of a box as your name was called you went up. Picked a key out of a bowl and got in the truck. If your key turned on the accesory lights you won. I did what everyone before me did and now in my mind I remember looking in the bowl and right smack dab on top is this bright silver key with all these dull grey keys around it. I hopped in talked to the DJ and man did I scream when he said HEY YOU JUST WON A TRUCK!

I put about 2k miles on it, had everything but the yellow splash down the side removed and sold it to middle school principle. It cost me about 8000.00 in taxes last year but we still cleared a few grand on it.
