Future Shock

We admit it: the Outfoxed gals did something right. But then there's all that other stuff...

It's time for another collection of pickings from the Fox Haters Grapevine, where all the branches have thorns, and the grapes are always sour. As is so often the case, that takes us to the newshounds (another fine product of the Outfoxed cabal). And yet, even we must admit when they do the right thing. After months of smearing the "vapid" Megyn Kendall and ridiculing Sean Hannity over the Duke Lacrosse matter, the mutts put up a one-paragraph post, eating a bit of crow:
FOX News (Greta, Hannity, O'Reilly et al) has this one pegged right from the beginning....

There was a little sniping but we're focusing on the positive. It is possible, even in the Fox Haters noise machine, to take responsibility for your errors. Our congratulations, but there is so much more to be done. For example, newspooch Donna revived an old standby when she wrote:
Today on Studio B with Shepard Smith they had a segment on with Jennifer Griffin reporting from the Pentagon (Comment: I don't know if Fox still has reporters in Iraq)

The kennel joined in:
  • I heard that Fox does not even have a Baghdad beaureau anymore. Now that's Real Journalism.

How ignorant are these biased bassets that they don't even know who the reporters are or where they are stationed?

As we said, this is an old standby, harkening back to their claim that FNC has "no overseas bureaus" whatsoever! It's a hound lie that has been thoroughly discredited, and yet they are still putting it forth as true.

Another old trick: if you don't like someone who appears on Fox, it's not enough to ridicule and try to discredit him. Instead, go the extra mile and insist that only Fox is disreputable enough to put him on. Remember this hound claim? Well, a good smear is worth repeating, so now it's radio host Mark Williams, about whom chrish asserts:
There is a reason why Williams is not interviewed by reputable news networks.

Now where do you suppose she got that idea from? Right, she made it up! Ahem:
  • CNN, August 10 2005: And live in Sacramento, California, Mark Williams, talk radio host for KFBK in Sacramento.
  • CNN, Sept 8 2005: Joining us live from Sacramento, California, Mark Williams, talk show host for KFBK Radio....
  • CNN, Sept 30 2005: Joining us live from Sacramento, California, Mark Williams, KFBK talk radio host.
  • CNN, Oct 25, 2005: Live tonight in Sacrament, California is Mark Williams, a syndicated talk radio host at KFBK radio.
  • CNN, Feb 22 2006: Radio talk show host Mark Williams has been getting plenty of calls opposing the deal. He joins us from Sacramento.
  • MSNBC, Aug 23 2005: Let me bring in Mark Williams, who is a radio talk show host and is launching his caravan tour from California...
  • MSNBC, Sept 12 2006: And from Sacramento, California, radio talk show host Mark Williams.  Welcome both.
  • MSNBC, Sept 19 2006: ...and from Sacramento, California, radio talk show host, Mark Williams.
  • MSNBC, Sept 26 2006: And from Sacramento, California, radio talk show host Mark Williams.
  • MSNBC, Oct 26 2006: ...and from Sacramento, California, talk radio host Mark Williams.

There's more, but for reasons of space we held it to five examples per. Why do they make such transparently false claims?

A different question for Marie-Therese: why can't she admit when she's wrong? M-T was so taken with Bart Stupak (D) on Neil Cavuto's show that she couldn't contain herself. Cavuto looked "foolish", Stupak wiped the floor with him, etc. And then, the cherry on the sundae:
As for the Congressman, you can bet we'll never see him again on a FOX News business show.

Flash forward just a few weeks to June 13. Who appeared not just on a Fox business show, but on the very same program with the very same Neil Cavuto? Awww, you guessed it:

CAVUTO: I am very happy to have back Congressman Stupak. Congressman, where are those commissions?
STUPAK: Where are those commissions? Well, actually, our piece of legislation is before the Senate, and Senator Cantwell from Washington has almost identical legislation as mine....

Did the newshounds note his appearance? Did they admit they were wrong? Did they credit Fox for bringing him back? Um, no. Instead the hounds published a "Cavuto-Is-A-Liar" article that made no mention whatsoever of Bart Stupak's return appearance! Now there's a shocker.

But M-T did find time to disgorge her venom on a Catholic priest. Because Father Jonathan Morris had the unmitigated nerve to actually reflect Catholic philosophy when appearing on Fox, he got the smear treatment. (Recall how the anti-Fox terriers previously published comments calling Fr Morris a "pedophile".) He belongs to a "highly-secret, cult-like order" (i.e. the Legion of Christ, which is not an order, and is so highly-secret that it has its own website). What's more, he "preached"! Oh, and note the obligatory phrase that M-T uses every time she attacks Fr Morris: "baby-faced". Why do you suppose she keeps coming back to that? It took only minutes for one of the kennel-dwellers to deliver her lines:
  • like morris knows the first thing about the role of women. first, he's gay; second, he's lived the majority of his life living with nothing but men where women are treated as second class citizens by his chosen religion. and three, he's very insecure about his manhood so he has to belittle women in order to make his penis seem larger. he's the type of gay man that has known he was gay from birth and therefore has had no interest in even understanding women and their role in society.... Edited By Siteowner

Did you catch that last phrase? This comment was edited by the biased bassets, and they approved those smears and personal attacks. One can only imagine the sort of venomous bilge that didn't make the cut!

For the ultimate irony, over a year ago Fr Morris appeared in a segment on immigration. At that time the hounds didn't say one word about his "ultra-secret" order because he "made an amazing point" and was "exactly right". And, true to Fox hater tradition, another Newshound Nostradamus tried again to predict the future:
I doubt we'll be seeing much more of him on Fox.

Right. Check. Finally, we have to thank ellen for making our day. In her zeal to slander those who expose her falsehoods, she ran over to somebody else's blog to post what her intensive investigation has proved to be the real truth about the infamous johnny dollar:
  • By the way, if you do some research on him, you’ll find out he was arrested many years ago (I believe it was in the ’70’s) for political dirty tricks.

Three minutes later:
  • Before J$ goes into a paroxysm of snarls and yelps, I may be wrong about the arrest. He may just have been charged. My recollection is that he pleaded guilty.

Fifteen minutes, and possibly a few frantic phone calls later:
  • Oops, stop the presses! I may have been wrong about the political dirty tricks… I was unable to find the article in my archived emails from 2004 and I may be misremembering or confusing him with someone else.

It's that newshound accuracy and honesty once again. Hey Ellen, keep digging, and make sure to publish every phony rumor you can find about J$ all over the internet. It will do wonders for your credibility.
