How the letter "D" sent the Outfoxed gals into a paroxysm of spin and deceit. With J$P Video: the video they don't want you to see.

This is an unnecessary post. It didn't have to happen. We tried, we cajoled, we urged, we pleaded for them to tell the truth. But they refused. So it is that again we have to expose another example of dishonesty, hubris, and fraud from the newshounds (another fine product of the Outfoxed syndicate).

Newspoodle Melanie writes:
Fox still can't get it right. Lieberman appeared on Your World w/Neil Cavuto this afternoon and he was identified correctly -- as an independent from Connecticut "(I-CT)" -- until the very end, when the chyron read "(I-D-CT)." I-D-CT? Now that's a new one.

Just to start with the basics, Mel doesn't know what she is talking about. Why is it "correct" to label Lieberman as (I) but an eeevil trick to call him (I-D)? He describes himself as an "independent Democrat". The Democrats admit him to their caucuses. He voted for Harry Ried. What's more, that designation is hardly "a new one". How does Mel think other cable channels label Lieberman? Like MSNBC and C-SPAN?

And if it isn't enough that the Huffington Post uses the ID designation as well, how about the fact that the Official Records of the US Senate list him as ID:

Several commenters pointed out Melanie's blunder, but there is nothing so stubborn as a Fox hater in love with her own "facts". So we are asked to believe that the official records of the US Senate are wrong, because the desperate housewives know better. Still there is more to address here, namely the claim that FNC used I-CT but changed at the end of the interview to I-D-CT. Where did Mel get that from? She made it up! It never happened. It was just a way to smear Fox, and when we corrected her, the kennel erupted (note the intellectual sophistication of the knee-jerk defenses raised by the denizens of the dog pound):
  • Actually I checked the tape. Every time his name was put up during this interview it said I-D. Melanie is incorrect in claiming he was first labeled as I-CT. Each and every time it was I-D or I-D-CT. Never I-CT. I think if Melanie checks her tape she will realize this and should print a correction. Right? --J$
  • Can anyone confirm if the above is true? And if so, what is the point of this topic?
  • If you want to know if Dollars statement is true (which I doubt) why don't you go research it.
  • Yeah johnnydullard
  • Dollar, why don't you return to your pitiful little blog?
  • Fox cut off his funding.
  • "Some say" that Fox's initial id of Lieberman was "I-D," but it looks like I-CT to me. --Melanie

There was an easy and obvious resolution: post the video. As you will see, Mel did have a tape of the interview. And yet despite repeated requests, she refused to let her readers see it:
  • there is no question that Melanie is incorrect in this case. All she has to do is post video of the interview. That will settle it, no? If she doesn't, someone else will. --J$
  • you have as much credibility as the morons in this [expletive deleted] administration that you idolize .....
  • When someone proves they made a mistake with factual proof. Am I suppose to take some radical Fox [expletive deleted] like Dollar's word for it?
  • I'm giving Melanie the chance to correct her error. Better to admit a mistake and fix it, then to deliberately let it stand even when you know it's wrong. If she chooses not to resolve this, then it will be exposed as another embarrassment for a site that has already racked up hundreds of them. --J$
  • how about we just wait til she posts the video, then we'll all be happy. I know you and all the regulars here DO want the information to be correct.
  • I reviewed the tape. I see that it looks like I-D, but I also see that it looks like I-CT.... if I get up close and squint, I guess it could be I-D, but if I'm casually watching, as I did the first time, it looks like I-CT. --Melanie
  • And still, there's Dollar with no proof. Just his not so factual words.

If you are wondering why Mel would not post that video, this might be a clue. Here are all the banners identifying Lieberman during the Cavuto interview:

Not one of them reads I-CT. Not one of them "looks like I-CT", with or without squinting. Just to complete the record, here is the Lieberman/Cavuto interview in its entirety--the video the biased bassets don't want you to see:

We don't know if Melanie deliberately lied at first. But after her accuracy was challenged she made the farcical claim that you have to "get up close and squint" because otherwise it "looks like I-CT". We have Mel denying all requests to post video of the interview. Of course, we have her refusing to correct or retract the false information in her post, which still stands unchanged as we write this. As for her claim that she "reviewed the tape", she's used that line before--another occasion where instead of admitting an inaccuracy she piled lies on top of spin until the entire structure collapsed.

We asked again and again for the newshounds to make a simple correction. They refused, stonewalled, and ultimately tried to lie their way out of a morass that should have been a straightforward admission of a mistake. In the entire Fox haters echo chamber, there is no source more inaccurate, irresponsible, and dishonest than newshounds.us.
