More Stupid Hound Tricks
They just keep coming, and we just keep reporting on them: the tricks, deceptions, and lies of the newshounds (another fine product of the Outfoxed crowd). Here are a couple more to add to the hundreds already documented, including one falsehood of phenomenal flagrance, even by newspups' "standards".
Stupid Hound Trick: The Incorrection
The purpose is to make Fox, or someone who appears on Fox, look wrong, stupid, or bad. To do so, the mutts "correct" something they said, using deceptive or false "proof". For example, Rove referred to something Obama said about his flag lapel pin, and the whippets used his quote thusly:
[Rove summarizing Obama's statement:] “True patriotism consists not of wearing a flag lapel pin but in speaking out on the issues.” That's not what Obama said. As The New York Times reported, “My attitude is that I’m less concerned about what you’re wearing on your lapel than what’s in your heart,” Mr. Obama told an audience here. “You show your patriotism by how you treat your fellow Americans, especially those who served... I wore it right after 9/11,” Mr. Obama said. “But after a while, you start noticing people wearing a lapel pin, but not acting very patriotic. Not voting to provide veterans with resources that they need. Not voting to make sure that disability payments were coming out on time.”What the pooches did is find a different quote from Obama, and used that to prove "that's not what Obama said". That way they could ignore the actual Obama quote that Rove was talking about:
"Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we're talking about the Iraq War, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security, I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest."They "correct" Rove and lambaste him for a statement that wasn't wrong in the first place. An "incorrection".
Now that you know how it works, here's another. This is regarding Laura Ingraham on The Factor (the same posting we noted previously regarding the "invisible man" trick). Here is Chrish's incorrection:
Ingraham added that Clinton is being criticized by economists for "her proposal to at least temporarily bring down the gas tax." As Ingraham well knows, the summer amnesty plan was McCain's idea and Clinton said (April 21 on Larry King Live) "I would also consider a gas tax holiday, if we could make up the lost revenues from the Highway Trust Fund.”The highlighting of "also consider" is Chrish's. She wants people to think this is just something Hillary was considering, and Ingraham was wrong to call it a proposal.
The Gullible:
- Whatever the Fox pundits say will be parroted as fact.
- Laura Ingram is a complete tool.
- Wonder if she goes to LA gay restaurants like homophobe Coulter?
To "prove" that Laura was "wrong", the whippets had to go all the way back to a Larry King show from April 21, nearly two weeks earlier. That was to avoid the fact that since then Clinton had adopted the gas tax plan as an official campaign proposal. It was no longer something she would "consider"--she put out a press release on April 28, three days before Ingraham accurately cited it. But the newspoodles ignored that and used an old quote to foist another incorrection on their credulous readers.
Stupid Hound Trick: The Phony Quote
We had a dandy example of quote doctoring on Tuesday, courtesy of Deborah:
FOX and Joe Leiberman Praise and Defend John HageeThe claim: "Fox" praised and defended Hagee by calling his actions "laudable".
Megan [sic] Kelly reported that John Hagee apologized to Catholics calling the apology a "reconciliation" with Catholics and praising the act as "laudible" [sic]
The Gullible:
- Of course, Hagee's conciliation with the Catholic League will be accepted by Fox.
- Hagee spews hate and his apology is "laudible" [sic]. Wright spews hate and his apology is not?
Deb (a documented liar) brazenly put words in Megyn Kelly's mouth that she never said:
KELLY:John Hagee apologizing today to Catholics for his cutting remarks about the Roman Catholic faith, which included calling the Catholic church "the great whore". Moments ago McCain responding to the reconciliation:Where did Megyn Kelly, or Fox, say the apology was "laudable"? They didn't. Where did Debbie get the idea that they did? She made it up! But don't take our word for it. Listen to the entire discussion and see if you can hear Megyn Kelly say Hagee was "laudable", or "praise" him in any way.
McCAIN: The fact that he has made an apology I think is very helpful. Whenever someone apologizes for something they did wrong, then I think that that's a laudable thing to do.
Deborah's deception is what it is: Another Hound Lie. fox news nh
