Weekend Links & Open Thread

Here is your place to discuss developments and offer your comments on Fox and other cable news stations. The standard rules apply; this is not a stream of consciousness smorgasboard so don't try to turn it into a political forum. Cable news, please.

Consider this an experiment. We'll see how it goes, and whether there is sufficient interest in making this a regular feature. That said, have at it.

UPDATES:

Bill Hemmer will anchor a one-hour YouDecide '08 special Sunday night at 10:00 pm Eastern. Reportedly Frank Luntz's focus groups will play a role.

A guest writer for the WCF Courier shoots a few arrows at Fox, and Fox Business in particular. Rather than citing any programming examples she instead uses this quote from Cavuto:

"None of this economist 'on the one hand and on the other hand' stuff," he says. That is, Fox Business News will not welcome discussion, debate, or controversy, and apparently will foster a simplistic view of a very complex reality. Ummm, what a surprise?
What Cavuto actually said:
The channel's managing editor, Neil Cavuto, says it is important to create clear and concise business messages to cater to a broader audience. "If you can't explain the stock or an investment principle in under a sentence to me, chances are you're not serving the audience," he said. "None of this economist 'on the one hand and on the other hand' stuff."
