  • At 3:00 in the morning the lighted boats look like the midway at a state fair.
  • The captain and crew efficiently go about the business of getting ready for the days catch.
  • I kept out of the way, not wanting to get my feet entangled in the ropes. The black night seemed like it would never end.
  • I had no idea what all the rigging was about but the crew expertly got things going.
  • This picture lookes like the boat is floating in blackness in mid-air.
  • The shrimp nets look eerily like sea nettles.
My morning to sail with the crew.  I showed up at 3:00AM—the boats in their berths were lit up like rides at a carnival. Bobby, Robert and Jimmy were there to greet me—probably laughing inside that I had to show up at that ungodly hour.  I busied myself with taking pictures while they prepared to pull out for the long morning.
