electronic music.' To read the full review, go

VERYLOUDSYNTHSONSTAGE...MINDLOBSTER!
What it sounds like if you feed kraftwerk, daft punk, rammstein, matmos, a
defective microwave oven and a murderer's brain through a faulty matter transporter
- a grand opera written by an illiterate moron - a cheesy europop tune written
by a negligent genius - fifty per cent trash culture aesthete, twenty five
percent overachieving sleep researcher, and twenty five percent still available
at low low rates.
Read the quotes below if you want to...the best way to 'about' mindlobster
is to see it live!
"This guy is fucking awesome!" Unsolicited testimonial from Truck
Festival punter.
"Another new name, Mindlobster from London. On his self-released CDR
(although maybe soon picked up by a 'real' label), he plays thirteen relatively
short pieces of electronica. Mainly on his laptop, but also with some extra
instruments such as keyboards. Unlike so many others, Mindlobster is not your
usual microsound laptop guy, as he rather puts on a nice electronic song.
Despite his use of modern day techniques, his sound is rather retro. Without
cashing on 'electro-clash', it's safely to say that Mindlobster finds their
inspiration in early 80s electronic music. Very early Portion Control (before
their aggressive punk sound), Human League in their Future guise and other
pioneers of electronic popmusic lurk in every corner of this release. Not
vastly uptempo, not techno inspired, this is some nice poppy bunch of tunes.
Easy tunes, that could fit on a label such as Tomlab. Pleasant late afternoon
music, to give yourself another adrenaline shot." Frans
de Waard (Vital).
"The acceptable face of laptop geekdom. Great tunes, great sounds, and,
unusually in this genre, great presentation."
"mindlobster take as their source material the most soulless, manufactured
music of all time, adult orientated rock, and delight in producing something
sparkling, melodic, crystalline and still utterly devoid of soul! In others'
hands, this would be an exercise in the electronic manipulation of downloadable
midi files, but when grabbed by the monstrous claws of the mindlobster the
result is a witty dissection of pop, and how it can seep into your unwilling
consciousness. Manipulated? You will be." Richard
Sanderson of Baggage Reclaim.
"Something good had to come out of the laptop music scene, something that could escape the 'bleeps for geeks' tag, something that said yes it's ok to rock with a laptop...mindlobster is it..." Vic Twenty
