MicroDesign has been defined by Forrester Research as the design of optimized experiences for time starved users of tiny mobile devices. Microdesign requires a dramatic shift in design thinking. You can't just squeeze an 800 x 600 resolution website onto Palm, RIM or even PocketPC, or cell phone. Microdesign requires changes in the way desingers think about navigation, layout, icons and images and possibly most important, anticipating what is essential and important for the specific user. At AlterEgo I developed style guides and wrote articles on the importance and process of microcesign.
