Magnifi was a startup company (since acquired by Proctor and Gamble) whose original goal was to develop a powerful web-based media search tool. Magnifi's software would "crawl" websites and automatically create indexes of all media elements contained in the site. One of the interesting features of this tool was that it would create as part of the index film-strips that would contain still-frame samples of the digitized media (e.g., a Quicktime movie). Somone using the Magnifi search tool could perform very fast queries for media elements (e.g, find all the Quicktime movies between 2 and 5 minutes that contained Elvis Presley).
My role in the project was to develop not only the user interface for the search tool, but the webmaster interface for doing the indexing process.
Magnifi has since expanded the scope of the company to become a powerful web-based tool for managing media and advertising campaigns.
