Sailing, sailing, sailing...and of course sailing.

Winston Churchill is purported to have said that if you want the experience of sailboat ownership without really owning one, all you have to do is stand in a cold shower and tear up $100 bills. There's some truth to this, but I believe it's still worth it.

In August 2001 I moved aboard Torrens -- a 41' ketch designed by William Garden in the early 70's -- with Linda (my soulmate and co-skipper). Torrens is berthed in Pete's Harbor in Redwood City. We also own Octavia, a 26' Ranger berthed right next to Pac Bell Park in South Beach Harbor. Owning two boats means that most of my spare tiime is spent either sailing or doing sailboat maintenace. Linda and I have had many wonderful adventures on these boats both on and off the water. We've made great friends and Pete's harbor. But the best thing about sailing for me is that is a constant source of learning new things. And that's what it's all about!
