The snowstorm of Friday, April 13 was forecast correctly and came as predicted. First came the wind and some snow overnight. After our morning walk it started snowing that lasted until late afternoon. We received about 6 inches of heavy, wet snow. We couldn't see Santa Fe because we were in the clouds. I was jogging in falling snow and had to clean my glasses frequently. The roads were wet with snow on the sides.

When I walked around the house in the afternoon with the camera I saw closed tulips sticking their head out of the snow. The tree branches were weighted down with snow. The birds disappeared. I wondered what happened to hummingbirds. Where did they hide? How did they survive without nectar when the blossoms froze? At night the front moved out of state and the morning skies were clear. It was 22 degrees.
Today it was a beautiful, sunny day. It warmed up to 60 degrees and the snow melted as if nothing happened. |

| Sněhová bouře v pátek 13. dubna byla správně předpovězena. Nejdříve přišel vítr a potom přes noc sníh. Po naší ranní procházce začalo hustě sněžit a nepřestalo až do pozdního odpoledne. Napadalo asi 15cm těžkého, vlhkého sněhu. Santa Fe nebylo od nás vidět, protože jsme byli v mracích. Když jsem byl běhat, tak sníh padal tak hustě, že jsem si stále musel otírat brýle. Silnice byly mokré, po stranách byl sníh. |

Když jsem odpoledne s foťákem obcházel dům, tulipány vystrkovaly zavřené hlavy ze sněhu. Větve stromů se ohýbaly, ptáci někam zmizeli. Co se stalo s kolibříky, kam se schovali? Jak mohli přežít bez nektaru, když jim zmrzly květy? Večer sněhová fronta přešla a ráno byla obloha čistá. Mrzlo, bylo sedm pod nulou.
Dnes bylo krásně, sluníčko. Oteplilo se až na 15C, sníh se rozpustil a vypadalo to, jako by se nechumelilo.
