Global warming notwithstanding (87 degrees in Florida), we had 3" of snow in the morning. It was wet and heavy and weighted down the branches of piňon trees and junipers.It also covered the wrapped blossoms of crocuses and freshly blooming daffodils.When I went for the morning walk I waded through the slush. It was 33 degrees almost the whole day, only now, in the evening, the sun is shining through the clouds. Tomorrow it's supposed to be partly cloudy and warmer. I need the roof to get dry out so that I can patch some leaks. The snow also tested our new windows. They are sealed well because no water got around them into the walls.

| It's cold in the house. We had turned off the heating a week ago and had to turn it back just in the living room. I also had started wearing shorts for my morning runs. Today, I wore jeans because it was too cold. There were low clouds in Santa Fe and fog in our place. The front which came through New Mexico yesterday spawned 13 tornados in the East planes. Twenty houses and mobil homes, were destroyed in a small town Logan. Fortunately, no one was killed. Our local papers report increasing number of flue cases during the last week. We hope to be protected by the vaccine which we received last October. |

| Přes globální oteplování (na Floridě měli 30 stupňů), u nás přes noc napadlo 8 cm sněhu. Byl mokrý, těžký a ohýbal větve piňonových borovic. Také skoro zasypal naše krokusy a čerstvě rozkvetlé narcisky. Když jsem šel ráno na procházku, musel jsem se brodit sněhovou břečkou. Bylo lehce nad nulou skoro celý den, až teprve k večeru vylezlo sluníčko mezi mraky. Zítra má být oblačno a tepleji. Potřebuji, aby mi uschla střecha, protože po velkém sněhu jsou tam asi díry, neboť nám trochu kape dovnitř. Nová okna přestála zkoušku dobře. Jsou dobře utěsněna a voda neteče kolem do stěn. |

| V domě je chladno, protože jsme už před týdnem vypnuli topení. Teď jsme stropní elektrické topení zapli jen v obýváku. Také jsem už před týdnem oblékl šortky na ranní běh, ale dnes jsem si vzal džíny, tak bylo zima. Nad Santa Fe byly nízké mraky, u nás mlha. Studená fronta s deštěm a sněhem, která přišla do Nového Mexika včera, zplodila ve východních pláních 13 tornád. V malém městečku Logan bylo zničeno dvacet příbytků. Naše noviny upozorňují, že přibylo v posledním týdnu případů chřipky. Doufám, že nás ochrání vakcina z minulého října. |
