Today was the warmest day of the year. The temperature outside reached 55 degrees. I thought it would be nice to take pictures of our daffodils and tulips and compare them with the first sprout which appeared a month ago.
Also, the snow is disappearing fast and if the warm weather holds, most of it will be gone by the end of the week. The snowmen built by the grandchildren visiting more than two weeks ago turned into little snow pyramids.The big snowdrifts and piles of snow which I shoveled from the roof is still there, blocking the entrance and one garage door.

The spring is definitely here. It's not only the warm weather and growing plants but also the singing birds which accompany us during our morning walks. Another sign of spring is the sneezing due to the pollen from blooming junipers. This year we didn't have swarming of winged carpenter ants getting out of their hiding places. This is a good sign because they apparently moved out of our house. However, stinking bugs survived the harsh winter. They defend themselves by letting out sharp stink which lingers long after they were flushed in the toilet.

Dnes byl nejteplejší den roku. Teplota vystoupila na 15C. Myslel jsem si, že vyfotografuji naše rostoucí narcisky a tulipány, abych ukázal, co udělaly za měsíc, kdy jsem zachytil první klíček. Také si můžete porovnat, jak nám ubylo sněhu po všech sněhových bouřích. Jestli teplé počasí vydrží, bude do konce týdne většina sněhu pryč. Jen hromady sházeného sněhu ze střechy a závěje u garáže a u vchodu ještě nějaký čas zůstanou. Z obou sněhuláků, postavených vnoučátky před dvěna týdny zbyly jen malé pyramidky.

| Jaro je definitivně tady. Není to jenom teplo a vyrážející květiny, jsou to také zpívající ptáci, kteří nás doprovázejí při ranních procházkách. Dalším příznakem je kýchání díky pylu kvetoucích jalovců. Tento rok se nám nevyrojili žádní okřídlení mravenci tesaříci. To je dobré znamení, neboť se asi odtěhovali. Jen brouci smradláci tvrdou zimu přežili. Když se brání, vypustí ostrý zápach, který je dlouho cítit, i po spláchnutí. |
