 Jan Saudek, well known Czech photographer, whom I knew only from pictures of Prague, was on the Czech Radio for three ours. Every Sunday at 5AM the Czech Radio broadcasts live program Good Morning. We listen to it from the recording made the evening before because of the time difference.
The interview was interesting. Mr. Saudek, who is 70 years old, spoke his mind without any pretense and limitations. He told us that he hated his flat which he got from his girlfriend, he disliked his twin brother because he is a devoted husband, he knew nothing about his many legitimate and illegitimate children and didn't care about them, he had no true friends except one, he hated email and disdained internet, he didn't care about money, but believed in sex, push-ups and sausage with mayonnaise for breakfast. He had several wives and many girlfriends who either left him or he left them. He's got no regrets, he is a free soul and everything be damned.
He is very intelligent, good story teller, recites poetry, likes Jiri Wolker, because he also liked women,can play guitar and sing american songs. My first impression was of a cynical, ruthless sociopath and hypersexual exhibitionist. He admitted to be an alcoholic but expressed desire to overcome it.
I looked up Jan Saudek at Google and found six references to pages with galleries of his photographs, available for viewing and sale, and one address of his fan club. I opened some of his photographs and immediately saw the reason for his celebrity. It's a crude, debasing pornography of the worst kind, pure and simple, in which the actor is the photographer himself and the objects are females in positions which make you throw up. I'll never understand how they can show their faces in addition to the rest.
I got a clue why Jan Saudek is so famous and sells so well.

 Jan Saudek, znamy cesky fotograf, ktereho jsem pred tim znal jen z obrazku Prahy, mel o sobe trihodinovy porad "Dobre jitro" v Ceskem rozhlase v nedeli v pet hodin rano. Poslouchali jsme to ze zaznamu, ktery jsme si udelali vzhledem k casovemu rozdilu, vecer pred tim.
Rozhovor v umelcove byte byl zivy a zajimavy. Panu Saudkovi je sedmdesat a mluvil do mikrofonu bez jakychkoliv zabran. Rekl, ze nenavidi svuj byt, ktery dostal od pritelkyne, nema se rad s bratrem, dvojcetem, ktery se venuje manzelstvi, nevi, co se stalo s jeho nekolika manzelskymi a nemanzelskymi detmi a nezalezi mu na tom, nema opravdove pratele az na jednoho, nenavidi email a opovrhuje internetem a nezalezi mu na penezich. Veri v sex, kliky a snidane s uzeninou a majonezou. Mel nekolik manzelek a mnoho pritelkyn, ktere bud opustily jeho, a nebo on opustil je. Niceho nelituje, je svobodna duse, a jinak muze vsechno jit do haje.
Jan Saudek je inteligentni, dobry vypravec, ktery upouta pozornost, zna zpameti basne a dovede je dobre recitovat, ma rad Jiriho Wolkera, nebot miloval zeny, hraje na kytaru a zazpival americkou pisnicku. Muj dojem po programu byl, ze je to cynicky, bezohledny sociopat a hypersexualni exhibicionista.
Na Googlu jsem si nasel heslo Jan Saudek a vratilo se mi sest odkazu na jeho galerie s fotografiemi na podivani i na prodej. Navic tam byla adresa jeho klubu obdivovatelu. Nekolik fotografii jsem otevrel a byl jsem zhnusen. Je to hruba, ponizujici pornografie, v niz ucinkuje sam fotograf spolu s zenskymi objekty v pozicich, jez jsou na zvraceni. Nikdy nepochopim, jak k tomu vsemu mohou ty damy a slecny ukazat svoje obliceje.
Pochopil jsem, proc je Jan Saudek tak slavny, a proc se tak dobre prodava. |
