a peek inside my cottage..

a lot of folk have asked about my place so over the next few days (or weeks depends how much can be bothered) I thought I might show it to you, a room at a time.

it's piddling down with rain today, and blowing a proper hooly so it's a great excuse to have a rest from the bike and catch up with some DIY and other stuff.... I need to let my eczema 'rest' a bit anyway so it's not that I've suddenly turned lazy or anything...!). It's always hard knuckling down to the never ending list of jobs to do in my cottage so before I do... a lot of folk have asked about my place so over the next few days (or weeks depends how much can be bothered) I thought I might show it to you, a room at a time. It's 200 year old granite cottage with 3ft thick walls in the old Cornish market town of Camborne... a lot of tin mining heritage around here so I expect it once belonged to someone in the business. Thankfully it hasn't disappeared down a mineshaft yet... the area is riddled with old mine workings... and it is a problem with some newer builds outside the town centre. (in reality I paid for a mining survey so I should be OK!).

Before I show you the photos you should know that I like colour, and I like lots of 'visual interest'. The place is great in that respect anyway because there isn't a straight line, right angle or smooth surface in the place! I've filled it up with bits and pieces collected on my travels and now after much work (pretty much continuous since May last year) it feels like home.

My first 'feature' is the lounge, probably because it's my favourite and also because it took the most work to turn it into the cosy place it is now. Apologies for some of the image quality, I only have a basic digicam (being very much a film aficionado) but you'll get the idea. There are too many pics to post here... so I've made a quick web-gallery here .

Right, that's enough for now... the smell of fresh baked bread is wafting out of the kitchen so I must go and get it out of the oven before it burns. All of a sudden I feel hungry!
