Cellulite sizzling in the sun....

Ahh, the smell of the British holiday, I nearly said "British BBQ" there......

Hey all, yep, I know - it's been too long! My lack of scribblings has not been for wont of things to write about, quite the contrary - too much going on and no energy left for a bit of a blog.... So what happened? Well, first and foremost there was the whole house move thing, slightly traumatic but I'm now properly ensconced in my 180 year old pile of granite, happily surrounded by empty paint cans and worn out brushes. Just to add a frisson of excitement to the summer there was another one of life's great experiences... not one to be recommended though... a Lymphatic cancer scare, just what I needed..... Thankfully the prognosis is good and unfortunately for you lot... I shall live. It's not what was first thought, but we don't yet know exactly what is going on. I'll save the details, but suffice to say I've been rapidly adding to my list of "been there, done that, got the t-shirt" experiences.... such as the CT scan with the very weird and slightly scary sensations of having radio-opaque 'stuff' doing strange things inside, and the gut biopsy - a nasty one this, I shall save this one to wish upon worst enemies everywhere... if you ever wondered what it's like to have a tube and toolkit rammed down your throat for a poke around in the stomach and intestine... I'm yer man!
Anyway, enough of that! This should mark the beginning of my renewed presence on ze internet (like you care.....!)... so what inspired me to actually sit down and write...? Well, picture the scene... a beautiful sunny day in west Cornwall, hiking along the empty cliff-tops with gulls wheeling overhead and a light sea breeze with the 'cleansing' smell of 'ocean' to soothe the troubled mind.... until approaching one of the world's beauty spots, Kynance Cove, the senses are overwhelmed with the characteristic pong of the great British sea-side holiday.... Instantly recognisable, the not so delicate odours of flesh, great rolls of it, frying under the noon-day sun in gallons of factor 15, occasionally with a hint of raspberry ripple icecream but more usually pasty and chips... (sorry, fries!). At least on the beach the scent does not carry the added spice of day old sun-dried dogshit such as can be found in some particularly tacky tourist towns..... The streets will be full of lobsters tonight!

So there you go, my insight for the day. What a waste of screen real estate, bet you wished I'd never come back eh! Do stay tuned....!
