Hopping cold..!
If you ever wanted to know how it is to
feel like an Extra Strong Mint all over then try this!....... though what it has
to do with winged chimps is beyond me....
OK class, today's topic is Tiger Balm. Excellent
stuff, and possibly the only thing keeping me sane at the moment. I should
explain, in a word Eczema - a bugger of an affliction with no cure. Sure I can
plaster myself with hydrocortisone all day long but that's only storing up
problems for future... so the answer to the itch my dear reader is Tiger Balm...
mixed in the palm of the hand with a simple moisturiser for an even spread it
kills the itch in a matter of minutes. If you ever wanted to know how it is to
feel like an Extra Strong Mint all over then try this!
Nearly everyone seems to have heard of
it but few (well, that I know) actually know what it is. So... beyond telling
you that it comes in a little glass jar with a picture of a tiger on the label
(funny that), smells and is most commonly bright orange in colour I thought I'd
borrow some background from tigerbalm.com (yes, there is such a place) for you
to read... here it is:A Hakka
herbalist from China by the name of Aw Chu Kin left China and established a
medicine shop in Rangoon in the late 1870's where he developed and sold the
balm. He had two sons, Aw Boon Haw and Aw Boon Par. After the death of his
father, Aw Boon Haw marketed the balm under the brand Tiger Balm. Together with
his brother Aw Boon Par, they moved the production to Singapore in the 1920's.
Being a marketing genius, Aw Boon Haw made a success of selling Tiger Balm into
Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Batavia, Thailand and some cities in
China.Rivetting stuff eh?! There's a
joke there somewhere about the Aw Boons I'm sure, I'm just too tired to see it
so instead I'll tell you that I've also got some Flying Monkey Balm from
Thailand, it's pretty similar though what it has to do with winged chimps is
beyond me....
