here's one for the magpies among you...
well two actually, just a couple of nice
shiny things of a bike flavour... (for a change... :o)
Bet you're all wondering how I'm getting on back at
work... OK I suppose, it's not very exciting, much coffee has been drunk, many
chats chatted and vacant gazes gazed.... luckily I'm not working full time yet
so I had all day yesterday for a gleeful hammer along the clifftop roads down
west on my Storck, the new carbon wheels are simply fab. It was sunny, the bike
was fast (and so was I, I should hasten to add....) and the coffee at the end
was strong - very much a silly big grin day.
So, onto my topic for the day.... (you can
switch off now if you don't like bikes... hehe) - some nice shiny little parts
that arrived recently. The first is a gorgeously retro and shiny stainless
bottle cage from those masters of nice shiny things Nitto in Japan. OK, it's
just for holding a waterbottle but this particular cage does it with a
particular panache that the more usual alloy or carbon ones simply cannot
match... I won't tell you what it cost, but it was cheaper than the vanishingly
light carbon ones on my other bike... Style rules my wallet I'm afraid. Looks
very good on my retro
Merckx...
The other thing is a nice shiny thing for me
to park my bottom on when I'm riding the soon-to-be-complete Ganwell... I'm
slowly accumulating parts for this rather special machine as and when I have
some spare £££ and the opportunity arises... This Arione saddle
is new but courtesy of good old fleabay came my way for rather a lot less than
the usual £80 asking price... Nice isn't it... it remains to be seen how
long the white bit stays nice and white... I shall be avoiding leaning the bike
against creosote-coated walls & fenceposts at all costs...... I fear the
most likely 'damage' is going to come from chocolatey fingerprints after the
cafe stop ...So there you go... boring
huh? Have a fab Easter weekend, I'll be giving all the DIY and other stuff a
stiff ignoring and instead will be playing outside in the sun to my hearts
content... well, that's the plan... stay
tuned!
