an almost-pint mug of tea - in Cornwall!
it's something of a mythical beast....
today however I found my own little pot of gold...
Here in Cornwall where cafes are generally of the
quaint "Cream Teas for the tourists" variety rather than the no-nonsense,
muddy-boots-no-problem outdoorsy joints 'oop North' the pint mug of tea is
something of a mythical beast.... today however I found my own little pot of
gold in the beach cafe down at Godrevy (fab place). I'm becoming something of a
regular in there, stopping off on my bike for a brew, so today I received
special treatment as the nice girl serving rooted around under the counter and
found a big mug for me, not quite a pint but nevertheless the biggest mug I've
ever seen in a Cornish cafe. So, I sat outside in the warm spring sunshine with
my mug of nectar, otherwise known as Yorkshire Tea (they haven't invented
"Cornwall Tea yet...') dozing while the light sea breezes caressed my cheeks...
ooo, this could get a bit saucy, I'll stop right there. Life was good! I'm going
to miss my mid-week stop-offs at the cafe when I go back to work (next week).
Yesterday was similarly laid back, an easy trundle down to Penzance for a latte
and teacake, basking in the sun, at a waterfront
cafe.
My treat for putting up with such
hardship is sitting in front of me as I write... a plate-sized chickpea pancake,
smeared with Marmite and wrapped around two fried banana halfs... perfect! So
excuse me while I tuck in.........
