Storck make wonderful frames, from a pure engineering point of view the design is well thought out and executed I have yet to come across better made, better riding frames - in particular with this frame the flow-welding (no post weld finishing is done) has to be seen to be believed. My Scenario Pro is fabulous fun to ride with it's sharp handling and good road manners. It's not a particularly light frame, stiffness was the priority here for Storck - and that stiffness makes it a highly efficient climber with highly tuned handling characteristics - it's an awesome descender, almost telepathic in the way that chosen lines just seem to 'happen' effortlessly. I ordered this frame back in the summer of 2003 from Poshbikes. Colour choice was a toughie, in the end after seeing sample tubes painted up I settled on a custom 'Midnight' linear fade powdercoat which looks fantastic, subtle class (well, in my opinion anyway...). The finish has proven to be very tough, with almost 4 years of hard riding on the clock it still looks like new. The component list has changed over time as my cycling budget went to other machines but it's a good, durable, reasonably light set up that works beautifully... Sadly this frame is no longer made, the degree of hand-finishing and tube manipulation required meant Storck could no longer justify it's production in the face of "pop-out" carbon frames from other manufacturers. On the positive side it means that this, my favourite machine, will continue to turn heads for it's relative rarity as much as anything. In my humble opinion it is and will always be a classic... |
