I can remember when the original Merlin Road titanium frames first appeared. Super rare and exclusive on Britain's roads it was quite something to spot one... In 1992 I saw one close up and was smitten but it was way beyond my student budget... On return to the UK in 2002 however after a long assignment abroad and with a fat bonus itching in my pocket it was inevitable that this would happen.. especially as I rather fortuitously ended up living just 100 metres from the area's premier Merlin dealer.... It wasn't particularly fortuitous for my bank balance at the time but thinking about it now it was a good investment... nearly 4 years on (at time of writing) the titanium still looks like new and the bike is a timeless classic - a worthy successor to that original Merlin Road (that sounds a bit pretentious doesn't it... ).

The build has evolved over the the years but in spring 2006 achieved my idea of perfection for this particular titanium frame. There is a minimum of carbon and yet the bike still tips the scales at only 14.5lbs. The ride is fantastic, light with a true titanium zing , sharp handling and comfortable for hundreds of kilometers.
