I'm a fan of carbon race frames... but not when they're all black as so many seem to be. This bike is a bit special, and came about almost by accident I suppose. In September 2005 I was out on my Scenario Pro, throughly enjoying the ride.... at around this time I'd also been having a niggling 'itch' (no, nothing to do with chafing shorts...) that said I'd like to think about having another carbon frame (my Look carbon frame had been long gone by this time) but my dilemma was that any new frame would have to ride as well as my Scenario Pro. Storck had a couple of very well respected carbon frames at the time, the C1.1 and the CD1.0... but they were all black.... Foolishly and in a rush of endorphins at the end of that days ride I logged onto Storck's website to see if they could offer a custom powdercoat on a carbon frame (they don't) and saw a news item about the very few of their top frames that were going to be produced in a limited edition to mark their 25th anniversary. The illustrations showed a gorgeous 'team' livery of white and blue... A quick phone call, without really thinking about what I was doing, and I learned that there was a CD1.0 coming to the UK in my size... doh! I'd dug myself into a hole and had no choice (well, I did really) but to scratch the itch and grab it. Turned out to be a good deal too, aside from the rarity value and class of the frame it came with a Storck bike hard-case on wheels - just the job for my trips abroad.

I took my time building this up, couple of reasons really - winter was coming and I simply didn't have the cash to do the job the frame deserved in one go. Instead I had to dripfeed the project with £££ until the bike finally hit the road in April '06. It was more fun this way as I gradually tracked down and collected some special parts, some of which were hard to get hold of. It rides every bit as spectacularly as my Scenario Pro, but is a fair bit lighter at 13.5lbs... jaw-droppingly light to most people it seems but nowhere as light as it could be.... I really do have the best of both worlds with this machine - a stupidly light bike that is superbly stiff with fantastic handling. I just try not to think too much about how many £££ disappeared into the bike-shaped hole....
