Oh yes, it's all about me.

I'm Mike Pinkerton. At work they call me Pink.

I've recently transitioned to Google working on the Firefox team. At least they let me work on Mac stuff. Previously, I spent three years at America Online as technical lead of Mac client development. Before that, I was at Netscsape for five years working on open source (Mozilla) and client products. I spend the bulk of my time making things, in general, suck less....And miles to go before I sleep. In addition, I'm the project lead for Mozilla's Camino project. I also teach a class at George Washington University called Development of Open Source Software. Sometimes, when I have a lot to say, I blog.

I got my Master's at Georgia Tech working with Dr. Gregory Abowd in the Future Computing Environements (FCE) group. My Masters Thesis involved studing ways to seamlessly integrate Portable Digital Assistants (PDA's, like the Newton) with desktop machines so that users may reference data without concern to its location. It builds off of Apple's Newton technology as well as OpenDoc and Cyberdog (may they rest in peace).

I got my BS in Computer Science at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). There I spent four hellish years of my life, but made a few good friends along the way. Some of them I still even talk to.

Here's my resume, just in case you care.

I took a few pictures of my townhouse in Ashburn, VA. I moved back to NoVA after a 10 year absence. Now that I'm back, I'm wondering what took me so long. Everything is green, it rains during the Summers (gotta love those t-storms), and Fall is simply amazing.

Obviously I do more with my life than just work. Keep reading if you want to know some of the other things that I do when I'm not in front of a computer.

Now that I care, how can I bother you?
