TimeStat by Pyehouse ((was located at http://www.pyehouse.com/lynn/timestat.php))

TimeStat, what I like to call it, menu bar date.    It is roughly a 43KB download.

I feel that I have very simple needs when it comes to my computing life. For instance, all that I wanted to do was to display the current date and the day of the week in the menu bar. Should be simple enough, right? Nothing fancy, nothing complicated, just the week day and date up there in the menu bar.

Well, I went looking and looking and looking and ... then I found TimeStat. Boys and girls, this is one beautiful program. Small, simple, and easy. That's what I like.

Now every time when I turn on my mac, TimeStat starts and I have the day and date displayed in my menu bar. I am one happy camper!

To enable TimeStat to start up automatically, open up System Preferences, click "Accounts" in the System area, select your user name, click the "Login Items" option, click the plus sign to choose the application, browse to its location, click "Add" and you are done.

These are the 2 custom formats that I use:

%b %e, %Y : %a
%B %e, %Y : %A

Specifier - Description
%A is replaced by national representation of the full weekday name.
%a is replaced by national representation of the abbreviated weekday name.
%B is replaced by national representation of the full month name.
%b is replaced by national representation of the abbreviated month name.
%e is replaced by the day of month as a decimal number (1-31); single digits are preceded by a blank.
%Y is replaced by the year with century as a decimal number.
%y is replaced by the year without century as a decimal number (00-99).

There are a whole bunch more, but this was all that I needed. You'll just have to go and get the program and see, for yourself, how wonderful it is.

october 17th, 2005 seems so long ago. today is Sunday, March 18th, 2007, and i am using my brand new 24 inch intel imac, osX 10.4.9 and i am still using timestat. though it is a PPC only program, it uses very little resources on my intel mac and is always on and running and has never caused me problems. timestat is roughly a 43KB download.
