Drinking with Lesbians - cancelled

Mike's rival to the well-known BBC series is cancelled -- or at least postponed, a well-placed source reveals.

Drinking with Lesbians, featuring beardy anthropologist Mike Daley and a supporting cast of butch and femme lesbians from across the gender divide, has been cancelled due to illness afflicting one of the main actors. "Our study," asserted Mr. Daley, "focused heavily on the drinking habits of a slim, attractive young woman known as Jenna. Unfortunately she has fallen prey to tonsillitis and we may have to postpone filming until her recovery is complete. Whilst the public are undoubtedly ready to observe the lesbian in her natural habitat of the Shakespeare's Head, Holborn, we felt it would be appropriate to wait until this most fascinating of creatures was able to speak and swallow without undue discomfort."

Professor Robert Winston, MA (Hair), was unavailable for comment. A spokesperson for the BBC, whose rival series, "Walking with Dinosaurs", featured no lesbians at all, said, "Um, OK. I'm just going to put you on hold for a moment," before replacing the receiver, disconnecting the call, and telling her colleague Tristan that she had now won the Weekly Weirdo Sweepstake, a popular competition amongst call-centre staff at the BBC's White City headquarters. Further coverage is not available on any of the BBC's seventeen thousand websites.
