Crocs
A Bunch Of Croc
The two collections I am presenting are about light, space
and time. I am using the "Croc" collection as a visual language,
an abstract concept reduced to a recognizable image; solidifying the viewer's
comprehension by experiencing the information directly rather than going
through the translation of intellectual understanding.
What makes "Crocs" interesting is they are neither abstract,
nor do they require translation. They are conceptual and figurative. They
go directly to our subconscious and primal, uroboros self. An alphabet
in one icon. All language embodies mental goals and futures. This is the
first step up the ladder of consciousness.
The crocodile is one of the oldest living creatures on earth. Predating
the dinosaur, it is the ultimate survivor. It comes out of the unconscious
domain of the water to the dry land of conscious awareness—a division
of spaces. We find in the "Crocs" this same division of the
elements: light and dark. It is the act of division or separation that
is the cause of creativity. We find this act of division in the Scriptures,
"Let there be light." Division is an act of the Divine.
The "Crocs" are a series; beginning with one, they multiply,
they divide, their form begins to vibrate, creating ever more patterns
in two-dimensional space. They represent the beginning. The path starts
here and leads upward into form, width and breath. That breath is the
giving of LIFE evolve, to create, to transcend.
My goal is to give the viewer a new point of view of the world, from the
perspective of time, space and light. The Greek word for physics is "nature."
Physics is a form of insight and, as such, is a form of art. Volume, space,
mass, force, light, color, tension, relationship and density are words
found both in physics and art. Nothing exists out of context. Everything
is connected to everything else. Every outline defines every in-line.
One form cannot exist without the other. It is this relationship that
intrigues me most.
