Book 2

The guides in Book 2 follow much the same outline as those in Book 1. However, the presentation is substantially different. The guides are web pages, not .pdf files. The guide proper contains an overview of new technical and musical features and preparatory activities. However, instead of a written-out block-by-block guide, there is a score in which each measure links to a pop-up web page for the appropriate block replaces the written-out blocks with note names and finger numbers.

There are lots of good reasons for this change. Foremost is the need for the students to begin learning their pieces from the score. To that end, it would be helpful for parent and child to listen to a piece several times with the published score (if you're reading this to look for a guide, you should already own Book 2), following along with the finger. Do this before the student begins work on the piece. The rhythms in the pieces below are well within a Book 2 student's reading ability.
