The OVT&L's machine shop is the first structure I built for the logging and tie production side of the layout. Eventually, it will be joined by Sierra West's sprawling "Twin Mills" sawmill complex as well as several other logging related structures. Railroad tie production and "short-leaf yellow pine" logging were big industries in the Missouri Ozarks from the 1890's until around 1928, when the forests were finally logged out. It is my hope that the OVT&L side of the layout will reflect the unique logging practices of that region and era.
