STANNA (Stay)

On the North Sea the ship is covered by monstrous waves. The crew seal the hatches, below deck becomes stiflingly hot - no naked flames are permitted, 'you can't even see where to puke'…

Slowly, there is more room in the hold as the first deaths occur- among them: Måns Jakob from Öland, poor old Fina-Kajsa's husband. The old dear starts to 'lose-it' a bit and is often heard saying over-and-over "oh dear-bless me, we will never get there!".

Kristina is unable to take food, pregnant and gravely ill with scurvy, she is haemorrhaging to death. Karl Oscar sits in vigil, afraid she'll not make the morning…

2.3 STANNA (Stay) 3:59

I skipsjournalen skriver första styrman: Storm. Och Karl Oskar vakar vid sin [In the ship's journal the first mate writes: Storm. And Karl Oscar keeps watch by his] sjuka hustru bädd - han vakar ut den längsta natten i sitt liv. [sick wife's bed - he waits out the longest night of his life.]

Ankra och förtöjas

(Anchored on its mooring)

Dimman har lättat

På det blöta däcket

En man med ett spädbarn på armen och två små som klänger i benen

(A man with an infant, in his arms and two small ones, clinging to his leg)
