I am presently a Ph.D. candidate in the Center for Jewish, Christian and Islamic Studies (Bible, Culture and Hermeneutics) of the Chicago Theological Seminary. I have reached the ABD stage. On this page I share my research interests should anyone wish to contact me to discuss them. The focus of my dissertation proposal is Inculturation and the Elephantine Papyri: The Record of Cultural Interaction Between a Jewish Colony and Egypt which has as its goal expanding our knowledge of the sociological processes of inculturation as reflected in these ancient texts. Another area of special interest is the Pivot Pattern in Biblical Hebrew. I have compiled an index to every example of the Pivot Pattern reported in the scholarly literature since H. Moler first recognized the construction in 1932 (H. Moler, "Strophenbau der Psalmen", ZAW, 50, 240-256). This may be obtained by email request. Another area of special interest is the Suffering Servant motif, especially as reflected in the Book of Job, the Servant Songs of Isaiah, and Psalm 88. Discussion regarding the Book of Job would be most welcome.
