The goal of the course is to give mental health practitioners a basic understanding of logotherapy that includes its history, its underlying principles, its clinical applications and its use today.
Following the completion of the course, participants will be able to:
• Identify the relationships among body, mind and spirit as understood by logotherapy
• Identify what is meant by a uniquely human dimension in logotherapy
• Compare and contrast the “Will to Meaning” with motivational constructs in other forms of therapy
• Identify Frankl’s laws of dimensional ontology
• Understand the role and function of the conscience in logotherapy
• Identify each of Frankl’s categorical values
• Identify the philosophical assumptions of logotherapy
• Define the existential vacuum
• Understand the similarities and differences between logotherapy and the positive psychology movement
• Gain an introductory understanding of paradoxical intention
• Gain an introductory understanding of dereflection
• Gain an introductory understanding of Socratic dialogue
• Gain an introductory understanding of other logotherapeutic techniques
