William Charles (Crowley) WENTWORTH [Parents] was born Oct 1793 in Sydney, NSW, Australia. He died 20 Mar 1872 in Merley House, Nr Wimbourne, Dorset, England. William married Sarah COX on 26 Oct 1829 in St Michael's Church, Sydney, NSW, Australia.

So baptised, but later known as William Charles Wentworth. Famous NSW character. Sent with his brother to be educated as a gentleman in England. Returned in 1810 but left again for England in 1816 to study law at the Middle Temple. His expoits are well documented elsewhere.
One of the most infuential Australian born colonists. His achievements included inland exploration, agitation for representative government, formation of the nation's first university (the University of Sydney), campaigning for fundamental civil rights such as trial by jury and co-publishing the colony's first independent newspaper, "The Australian". Bought Vaucluse House near Sydney in 1827, and extensively remodelled it. Vaucluse House is the oldest house museum in Australia, and has been open to the public since 1924. Sarah COX [Parents] was born 21 Apr 1805 in Albion St, Surrey Hills, Sydney, NSW, Australia. She died 14 Jul 1880 in Eastbourne, Sussex, England. Sarah married William Charles (Crowley) WENTWORTH on 26 Oct 1829 in St Michael's Church, Sydney, NSW, Australia.

The daughter of ex-convicts, worked as a milliner before marrying William Wentworth in 1829. 10 children.

Darcy was born in Portadown in Ireland and qualified as assistant surgeon in London in December 1795. He took to gambling and low company, and in 1787 and again in 1789 he was charged with highway robbery. He was discharged on the understanding that he would take up a postion as superintendent of convicts at Botany Bay, whither he sailed in December 1790. W. C. Wentworths mother was Catherine Crowley who had been sentenced to transportation for seven years at Stafford assizes. Presumably there was a shipboard romance.
