Lama
Tsultrim Yeshe of Wisconsin visited our center and led us in a
weekend-long Nyungnay Retreat.
The Nyungnay practice
is the long practice of the 1000-Armed Chenrezik, one of the forms
of the Bodhisattva of Boundless Compassion.
Lama Tsultrim Yeshe completed a traditional
3-year retreat at Karme Ling Retreat Center in Delhi, New York
under the guidance of the Venerable Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche. The
Nyung-ne practice or fasting ritual of the 1000-armed Chenrezik
involves the engagement and purification of the eight vows. It
was introduced into the Kagyu Lineage by the Eighth Karmapa, Mikyo
Dorje. The blessings of the original source of this tradition
are unimpaired and the continuity of the profound instruction
is unbroken.
The practice began very
ealy on Saturday Morning. After a the ritual lunch on the
first day, the retreatants fast for the remainder of the retreat
until the fast is broken on the morning of the third day (Monday)..
At left you see two
photos of Lama Tsultrim Yeshe on Monday morning just before the
fast was broken, the lunch served by non-retreatants, the Nyungnay
shrine on Saturday afternoon and some of the retreatants on Monday
morning just before the fast was broken.
